Baseball Has Been a Hit for TBS

John Dempsey of Variety.com is reporting that TBS spent 1.05 billion dollars logos_TBS_Sports (2)__________.jpgto acquire the rights to broadcast post-season baseball games through the next seven years. Although it seems like an astronomical amount of money, the TBS investment seems to already be paying off. TBS continues its coverage of the National League Championship Series on Thursday when the National League West champion Arizona Diamondbacks host the wild card winning Colorado Rockies. For the previous week, 6 of the 7 highest rated TV shows which aired on cable were playoff baseball games shown on TBS. Even better, TBS has seen a 26% viewer increase from last season's coverage which was shared by ESPN and Fox. TBS should be nothing short of pleased with the amount of viewers tuning into this season's playoffs, especially in a time where although baseball is known as America's favorite past time, the NFL is clearly the most dominant of all professional sports leagues.
