nba_g_james_jayz_580.jpgAs of Espn.com  and widely known in the sports world that in the summer of 2010-11 LeBron James will become an unrestricted free agent. The question is will he be a Cavalier, Knick, Net, or even decide to play overseas in Europe a trend that may soon develop over the years. With Cavs GM Danny Ferry trying to keep James in his home of Ohio, the money that will be available in an uncapped 2010-11 season has teams three years in advance trying to clear cap space.

Being a Knick fan and fan of basketball in general I find three years of tanking isn't the smartest idea in the world, especially in the eyes of the fans. I would love to have LeBron James as a player for the Knicks my problem with that is even if we do sign him; won't he be in the same situation he was in Cleveland, no supporting cast? I understand the Knicks stinking up the league for as far as I am concerned last 5-6 years but I'd rather have a bunch of players with marginal talent and a high salary cap than to have a superstar, better yet icon, be miserable in the "Mecca of basketball".

In the heyday of Ewing he was the icon but he was surrounded by the likes of John Starks, Larry Johnson, Charles Oakley and many other that would actually play their hearts out unlike 'Bron's Cavs where he is options 1-5 on the court. These were the days when centers dominated the paint and point guards dished more than Tupperware, when scoring points meant less than playing solid defense.

So Mr. Walsh go ahead and clear the salary cap space for my beloved Knicks, signing Allan Houston nearly 10 years after his infamous $100M contract which is all of the reason we are in this situation now, but if no one is there to watch who's gonna care?
