Are sports immune to the economy?
Apparently ESPN's parent company Disney has recently offered 125 million dollars in order to purchase the broadcast rights to the BCS games. They reportedly outbid their competition by nearly 25 million dollars. That is 25% more than their competition, insane. Apparently someone forgot to tell Disney that our economy is in a recession and it doesn't look like it will be back to normal anytime soon. Maybe this is just proof that sports truly are immune to the economy as many believe. If not, Disney looks incredibly stupid.
