New York, New York Bowl?

Could this be the very picture we will be looking at February 1st 2009? Could it be the biggest story in New York since...well last year?

Sure.... any New York Football fan (besides the Bills at this point) would love to see the cover of their NY Post, Daily News and Newsday fluttered with previews of Manning vs. Favre II, Jets vs. Giants, The Champs vs. Champions of 40 Years ago.

Or perhaps might I even say the biggest sports story in New York's History?

The possibilities are endless right now in the AFC, even for the 6-3 Jets! Could they possibly in some way fight their way through a mediocre conference to the big game in February? It's absurd, they still are the Jets, but what defines absurd today? Spygate, Pacman, Romo's vacation, 10 STRAIGHT road victories?

It's been a good 22 years since a Giants team has dominated the NFC this late in the season. For the fans, the "experts", coaches and players who have played against the Parcells in86, this team has to qualify as one of the best Giants team in their history and pending a repeat, it may be the best team ever.  This team is unrecognizable from the past, every week, they capitalize on every situation, and it's from the SB MVP, the O-Line, D-Line, secondary-line, the two aging kickers and "Tom Terrific" and his big blue crew. FINALLY, the respect is at the Meadowlands where it belongs and oh what a sweet feeling it is. Pending, a New York Mets disaster, the 8-1 Blue Crew, have the NFC in their hands to take it, defend it and start their own dynasty. But they still need to look across their backyard or front yard or neighbor or whatever the Jets can be considered in a "Giant Yard"

It seems true that the Titans 9-0 headed by ex-Giant, Kerry Collins are this year's Patriots and why would they not be the greatest coach of the past decade, Jeff Fisher is running the show and (The other guy used video cameras to win). With the exception of the Titans, it still is possible for Eric Mangini's Je... or might I say, Brett Favre's Jets refuse to fly back north for the winter. Favre, the holy leader still "Knows he can play" and still looks like he wants to, regardless of how many press conferences there are.  But ask yourself this, when was the last time the JETS held on in a big game mid-season, as they did last night in Foxborough? This could be the season Jet's fans, but let's not hold our breath... 40 years is quickly approaching.
