NHL Ratings Skyrocket

With only a month in the NHL season all business aspects of the game seem to be on the rise. Whether its attendance, TV ratings, or new corporate partners, the NHL has turned its act around. New corporate sponsors have appeared such as Honda, Visa, and Cisco. These are 3 major companies to be associated with. October ratings have driven in a 12 percent increase in TV ratings. 21 of the 30 teams had an increase in local ratings or were on par with those from a year ago. The NHL unveiled a new media portal for fans to capture a more personalized NHL experience. NHL Game Center Live is a new interface for watching NHL

What could be the cause to the rise in popularity in the NHL? I mean it was only a few years ago they were going on strike. It seems the NHL has not been very popular in America due to the lack of American players. Most come from Canada or countries in the eastern hemisphere. However the sport itself has been getting a lot of publicity. This fast paced, action packed sport is turning the heads of many and has a promising outlook for the future. I myself am a fan of NHL and am glad to see it finally getting some well deserved recognition.
