The New York Knicks were unable to reach a buyout with Stephon Marbury today. Marbury, and his lawyers met with New York Knicks GM Donnie Walsh in an attempt to buy out the remainder of Marburys contract. The point guard is not in the teams future plans and is considered a "distraction." Marbury is set to earn 21 million dollars this year, which is the final year of his contract. Since the Knicks do not want anything to do with the player, they told him to "stay away" from the team until they can figure out a way to get rid of him, whether it be via buyout, release of trade.

Marbury is a cancer to the NBA. He turned his back on his teammates when he refused to go into a game because of differences with his coach. He is a loser as a player and does not belong in this league.

I don't feel the Knicks have been too fair to Marbury. First of all they bencd him and tell him to not even dress for the game and then they just expect him to hop in the game when he hasn't played in a month. They can't expect him to just jump in the game when they basically turned their backs on him.

I feel that Marbury has been treated horribly for no reason. This season he hasnt done anything wrong, all he does is sit on the bench. They ask him to not dressa and he doesnt. But when asked upon to get ready to play, he doesnt becuase of the low respect he has been getting. Also the past history he has with D'antoni hasnt been well either. When Marbury was with the Suns, he didnt want to play for D'antoni so now D'Antoni doesnt want marbury to play for him.
