bat.jpgThe bat is made by a company named Mizuno USA. The company began in 1980 when they began selling athletic footwear. Mizuno USA is located in Norcross, GA and they manufacture and distribute golf, baseball, softball, running, track & field and volleyball equipment, apparel, and footwear for international markets.

This new bat is becoming the standard for softball players. It uses Mizuno's Techfire Technology for increased sweet spot utilizing three different levels of materials. It also utilizes 100% of Mizuno's Black Onyx Carbon for improved durability and feel.

These carbon fiber bats have been in production for a couple years now. They can be used in slow or fast pitch softball. Team USA used them in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Carbon fiber bats are being used because of the flexibility and the potential to create a bigger sweet spot when hitting a ball. It allows players to drive the ball further without changing their swings.

Carbon fiber bats can give you a distinct advantage over your opponent. If they don't have them or can't afford them then it could be a problem within the leagues. The solution could be to make a rule that if every team in the league doesn't have them or can't afford them, then no one can use them. So either every team can have them, or none. There should be no middle ground.

This YouTube clip shows how the bats are actually made. Check it out, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRhbYnNTdkg.
