Rawling S100 Helmets
Over the past few years Major League baseball players have had more encounters with head injuries than ever before. Since the new wave of injuries, people have been talking about how to put an end to the problem. The answer is simple, the Rawling S100 helmet. The helmet is designed to protect any head injuries if a player was to be hit in the head with a baseball. The design will protect the head from a fastball that is traveling at the rate of 100 MPH. In most circumstances, If a player is hit with a fastball going at that speed with a normal helmet, it is very likely for them to face some serious brain injuries in the near future. During the 2009 season, both David Wright of the NY Mets and Ryan Dempster of the Chicago Cubs were spotted wearing this helmet during a few games. Players around the league have mixed feelings about how the helmet looks, but all agree its a lot safer than the helmet's that are currently being used. Both Wright and Dempster support the notion of making these helmet's mandatory throughout the league, but there still are a few player's that strongly disagree. Over the next few seasons the fans will probably see more players wearing these helmets to protect themselves as well as their future. It should be interesting to see if this new helmet will take over the league, or simply just fade away like a lot of other types of new technology.
