If you've been watching NBC's coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, you might have noticed some very cool special effects. Most of the time these effects are provided courtesy of a company called Dartfish. They're not only used in the broadcast, but MOST of the teams themselves use Dartfish to train; improving their times, technique, and overall performance.

In our Applied Information Technology class at SUNY Cortland, we were assigned to create a mediabook in two sports of our choice. The two sports that Dave Dow and I did were Hockey and Swimming. The mediabook had to consist of at least 3 key positions comparing two of the same clip in the Analyzer, a Simulcam of two clips, and a Stromotion of one clip. These Dartfish tools enables players and coaches to analyze how teams perform and helps teams come up with ways they can improve their own play. To learn more about Dartfish, click here.
